Yuen Po Street, Bird Garden

First of, is it only me? I reacted at once to the name, and when I saw the picture beside the name I was flabbergasted! If I had a couple of beers in me I would have marched right over tho the owner, slammed my hand in the desk and stated: I wish to return this parrot! 🙂

Haha! PINING FOR THE FIOOOORDS..!?!?.. its not pining, it is dead!. Oh my god, this was the highlight of the day. The Norwegian Blu…. BEAUTIFULL PLUMAGE!!

But anyways, the bird market!

I liked it, it felt like a very Chineese things. Lots of elderly men, mostly, meeting and comparing birds and having a beer. It was a nice setting, ofcourse – some will be put of by lots of birds crammed into cages (not THAT crammed, if you ask me), but I am not…so there. 🙂

The market/street/garden is not big at all, lets say 90-100 meters at top and it is usually not crowded they say – “they” usually know what they are talking about. It starts with an area that sells cages, food and accesories. The cages beeing very beautifull made indeed. Most are crafted out of red or darker wood, and I have seen people using them both for birds and as display units for flowers.

Yes, that is live bugs.

I would really like to bring home one of these, but I do fear that it would break on the way. And also, I have no bird anymore (RIP , Ozzy!). I am not sure about the price of thse, for all I know they are super cheap? All I know is that the craftmanship looks very good, and the cages have an decorative effect besides beeing ment for birds.

After the cages and stuff came the birds, and lots of them. I have been told that there are lots and lots of birds native to this area and I would guess that most of the birds here are of the local kind.

Ofcourse, there was a bit of noise from all the birds. I also have a video, showing a bit more of the different cages and prices for birds. But I am having a hard time uploading it, but suddenly it will be there.

This place is in the end of the flower market, both markets hugging the road circleing the small park in the middle. A nice place to spend some hours on a sunny saturday.
