Going to the movies

We went to Alamo drafthouse cinema to se the old movie Nesferatu with a four piece band. We were very exited. Food, beer, music and a movie…..perfect.

Mimosas at the movies❤️
They menue had quite a few options and the food was delicious.
This was a very fun way to watch a movie 🙂

Book people

We are book people so we had to go to the independent books store in Austin called Book People. I lost all sense of time and just wandred around this huge bookstore. I took pictures of a few of the things I found that separate this Book store from many others. But if you can, you should go see for yourself.

The Contemporary Austin

Yeah, so I think this place is actually the Jones Center and it is part of the, eeeehh?, concept «contemporary austin», anyways something like that.

They did have to artist on display here this week John Bock and Wangechi Mutu. Both pretty cool, but I think the Bock one was better, he had created a real eerie feel to the whole thing – starting of with a movie and the the display afterwards with some messed up videos and uncomfortable sounds. Its one of those things, you have to experience it, hard to explain – it was just a proper eerie thing that was really really cool.

Some mix here in the pictures and artist, the one above was the Wangechi one.

Wangechi was something completley different from Bock. With the main videoscreen running nonstop with some animation about carrying lots of stuff.

A live feed from some livingroom at the Bock display. Every now and then a grey box would appear in the video transfer and then suddenly disappear.. this box popped up on lots of the other different displays to. As I said,,,eeerie…like you are in a Davind Lynch movie.

Well worth the five dollars 🙂

Even with at the peole around you, in the middle of the day, it was a bit troubeling to put your head trough that window.

We did get access to other parts of contemporary austin on the same ticket, so we will try and stop by a few of them at least. If there is time.

Tears of Joy, Austin

This is such a cool shop, the selection is hughe and they have pretty much everything chilli related.

A great place to pick up some christmas gifts and also some additions to the hotsauces back home. We got some peach and pineapple sauces. And a couple of those super super hot oils and extracts.

They even got a place in the back set up with sometortilla chips and a fridge full of different tasting bottles.

Lets hope it handles the flight back home ok. We got it bubblewrapped, double platic bag. All good.

Casino el Camino, Bloody Mary

We stopped by Casino el Camino for some drinks – they are kinda famous for their burgers and bloody mary. This time we went for the bloody marys only,.

Just look at this masterpiece, they make them on a scale from 1 to 10. This was a five, the six will have habanero peppers and I think the ten will have some ghost pepper added to it. Topped off with bacon, tomato and cheese..pickled cucumber..onions..lots of stuff.

Local artist at Darwin pub

We where hanging out on Darwin (they do excelent moscow mules drinks). And after a while a local hero came and presented us with a drawing of us. What a nice way to make a dollar instead of beggin.

It was worth 5$, we will have to get it framed back home.

Wedding anniversary

5 th of Nov, we have been married for a whole year allready. Time flies,

We celebrated at Geraldines in the Van Zandt hotel just across the street. They have jazz brunch every sunday at 11am,  live band playing while one enjoys ones anniversary brunch drinks.

I also got to taste a ‘croq madam’ sandwich for det first time. Pretty happy with that!, there was also a cuban version of egg benedict – lets see f we can get back there agan before we leave. A bit more pricy than ihop – but so! nice food.

The band was really great to, the whole setting was very nice. Highly recomend a trip here for a bit fancy brunch and some nice live music.
