Roadtrip to Grand Canyon

ROADTRIP !!

So we gout our sweet BMW ride, picked up at the SLS Hotel up at Stratosphere. This looks to be a bit mor dodgy part of town, lots more beggars and in general crazy people shouting at lightposts and flowers but at least they had great road line marking to drive around. They are probably stoned out of what little mind they have, there is one of those ganja shops here – marijuhana is legalized in Nevada now. But I think the main issue is alcohol and harder drugs.

I dont know.. It is probably lots of reasons and a bit more complex. But for me, as I walk along, i just smell the intense scent of old piss – vomit and ganja., all set to the sound of people shouting at flowers and birds.

Anyways – its not all to bad. But you just see and smell a bit more off it as you remove yourself from the strip.

The trip to Grand Canyon is aprox 200 kilometers and will take you 2 hours or so.

Once you pass hooved Dam the roads open up a bit more and you get that classic usa roadview, where the road seems to go on forever into the horizon. We where also lucky with the weather, a bit cold, but sunny and not to many clouds.

Maren really ejoys the convertible, scarf and everyting. We even had the car heater on max-max, it might be a bit cold for a topless car, but godamit – we dont care! 😉

We did 515 out of Vegas, then hit 93 going to Hoover Dam. Here you can follow the scenic slow stuff or head back to the 93 and follow that down towards Dolan Springs turnoff.

Along the way there is not a lot, one or two gas stations, but there is one diner before you get to Dolan Springs – Rosie’s Den Cafe. Excelent spot for breakfast/lunch.

Maren is calling home to check if all is ok with kid and cats. There is a bit of issues with coverage on the cellphones out here. so dont expect a lot of signal, at this spot, or anywhere there is a businiss there usyally are a few bars.

I did a double cheeseburger for breakfast, as you do.. when in Rome and so on. 🙂

When you get of 93 you follow a regular two lane country road. The views are spectacular filled with lots of Joshua trees and great mountains. To bad with the speed limits.
