Today was the day for laundry – luckily we had a laundromat real close by – but we still had to kinda hang around
But this posed little to no problem – since our hotel is in walking distance to Cantillon Brewery, and a wash is pretty much as long as a tour and some tasteers.
The Brewery is located just of one of the main streets close to Midi station, and there is nothing that really gives you an idea that there is a close to 125 year old Brewery here. Even outside, no one there – tons of ppl on the inside though.
They offer self guided tours, where you can follow the signs around the Brewery, along with a folder describing the different parts of it. They are in full production, and are brewing as we walk around..so we got told that the Brewery could shout out to us to move or get out of the way – they where working on all the different levels and the place was not to big.
This Brewery is just lambic beer, and the yeast comes from the air – as one of the Brewery said, this meant that in earlier days the location of the Brewery meant a lot for the taste
These guys have been at it for Spone 125 years, always been independent and kept to a lot of the old traditions.. the whole tour of the Brewery was done in 30-45 minutes, depending on how long time you wanted to spend looking at the different stuff.
Cool place, small, snug, narrow staircases and lots of thing going on.
After the tour you ended up at the bar, where you got 3 small taster of the different beers. In addition I bought a bottle of blueberry lambic that was a Coop with the Danish Brewer in øl butikken.
And of course – they had a shop by the exit. Grabbed a tasting glass for my collection.
And then back just in time to start the dryer!
